By Peter Griffin

The SAP Certification is considered to be a benchmark for all those who yearn to make a career as a successful ERP professional. All certified SAP professionals earn the respect of being a member of an elite group of ERP savvy individuals.

The certification consists of 3 levels, that of Associate, Professional and Master. The testing procedures for each level are rigorous and require a thorough understanding of SAP implementation and a level of proficiency in ERP modules. The certification process is also executed with the highest orders of diligence and SAP worthiness such that only the cream minds reach the Masters level.

Despite its high market value, some industry professionals are of the opinion that experience and knowledge gained at the workplace is far too important than the SAP Certification. SAP is an expensive and time consuming process to implement. Business authorities looking to implement SAP needs to have faith in their SAP Consultant. The certification is evidence of the sound knowledge and capabilities that the consultant holds and helps to build the confidence of the customer. It is a mark of excellence of what the SAP consultant does and provides assurance and transparency to the client.

SAP is an organization with sound commitment to quality and has taken this certification to meet their dedication to providing the client with quality implementations. The company puts its name on the line with every SAP certified professional. The goodwill and the global brand image of the company lies in the efficiency and the output each certified professional delivers to the huge client base of SAP, worldwide. The company has made this certification as a quality backup for the investment made on SAP implementation. It ensures that each SAP implementation is a success and provides the certification as a mean to control this success rate.

Today SAP is available in 28 different languages with country specific and industry specific versions. The employing company must train their workforce to make the most out of this implementation. By introducing the 3 levels of expertise, SAP makes it a point to ensure that most implementations are a success to both the consultant and the enterprise. The certification does not necessarily guarantee a consultant's superior capabilities not does it promise a predefined successful career. Yet industry experts believe that the SAP certification is by all means a true measure of the merit of SAP professional and assured revenue.
